Hi, I’m ASHLEY
I love walking with people as they move toward the freedom that comes from knowing and believing the truth. Sometimes we have a lot of “stuff” that gets in the way of that, and we need to take a closer look. All of our experiences impact us, and some of those leave deep wounds that interfere with how we view ourselves, others, and God.
I am not the nod your head type of therapist. I’m going to jump in the deep end with you so we can get to work. We will laugh a lot, and there will probably be some tears, too. Healing is hard work, but it’s the good kind of hard.
I received a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. My training integrates the research from psychology and counseling with the truth of scripture, so my methods include anything that aligns with scripture and is backed by research. I am passionate about those in counseling getting good care.
Ok, but what what models and theories am I using? I deeply believe that our stories matter, so I rely on a lot of models and theories that align with that perspective. Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems are probably my favorite, but I also pull from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and few others. I am trained in EMDR and it seems to work pretty well online most of the time, too.
I also love serving those in ministry. I have lots of experience counseling pastors and missionaries, and their families. Adult TCKs and PKs are a special focus as well. Helping those who care for others for the sake of the gospel is one of my favorite things.
When it comes to neurodivergence, my approach is affirming. I believe that those of us who are a little neurospicy function a lot better when we lean into the strengths of how our brain is built.
It is always good to verify the credentials of a treatment provider and you can look me up here (VA), here (LA), here (SC), or here (VT).
